General trade exports rose suddenly in the province. In the 1-8 month, the general trade export volume reached 87 billion 790 million US dollars, an increase of 6.1%, an increase of 2.9 percentage points higher than that of Guangdong, Shanghai, Zhejiang and Shandong.

According to the statistics of Nanjing customs, in the first 8 months, Jiangsu's foreign trade import and export amount was $353 billion 200 million, which was flat compared with the same period last year, accounting for 14.1% of the total foreign trade import and export volume.

Among them, exports amounted to 208 billion 700 million US dollars, an increase of 2.2%, and imports of US $144 billion 500 million decreased by 3%.

In the first 8 months, our province's foreign trade totaled 64 billion 200 million US dollars, an increase of 16.3%.

In addition, in 1-8 months, compared with 5.7% of foreign investment enterprises, private enterprises in Jiangsu province showed outstanding performance, with an increase of 20.6% in imports and exports and a 4.1 percentage point increase in foreign trade and imports and exports, reaching 24.1%.

However, customs officials pointed out that compared with Guangdong Province, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Shandong and other coastal provinces and cities, the main trading partners of Jiangsu province were too concentrated and lack of bright growth factors. The processing trade dominated by electromechanical and electronic products was dragged down by the global manufacturing downturn. The three pillars of ships, portable computers and solar cells continued to deteriorate in the trade environment of export products, all of which posed challenges to our province's stable foreign trade.

Experts suggested that our province should help enterprises overcome difficulties and stabilize exports, and seize the opportunity of Russia's accession to the WTO to further optimize the structure of foreign trade market.
